Sustainable development is an increasingly pressing theme across all sectors of productive activity, naturally extending to the footwear cluster in Portugal. In product development processes, the selection of materials is a critical factor for improving eco-efficiency, which can bring added benefits for differentiating offerings. However, the processes of selecting and obtaining raw materials, in a sustainable development framework, pose challenges for the operational models of companies and may even imply organizational transformations.
In this context, as part of the BioShoes4All project, CTCP organized a webinar titled “National Materials in Footwear Production” on November 28th (Tuesday), at 2:30 PM. In this session, the speaker aims to address the theme of material selection and the choice of biological materials produced in Portugal, with a focus on textiles. Specifically, the production cycles of linen, hemp, wool, and burel will be explored.
