CTIC – Technological Centre for Leather Industries is an entity within the National Scientific and Technological System, whose main global objectives are:
- Supporting technically and technological companies in the sector or other additional sectors aiming for sustainable development in the tannery sector, through innovation and investigation in this sector;
- Perform and promote applied investigation and experimental development that can contribute to the solutions to problems in the sector and promote their transfer to industrial companies directly or indirectly associated with, supporting the implementation of industrial policies of improving competitiveness inside those companies;
- Promoting the improvement in quality, acting over factors that condition it, such as quality management systems, normalisation, metrology and certification;
- Supporting and promoting specialised technical and technological training of the company’s workforce and future board panels in the technological and corporate management scope; - Recover, treating and divulging technical and technological information;
- Performing the development work can lead to the reduction of pollution through preventive measures and optimisation of the treatment processes of effluents;
- Contribute towards strengthening connections between the university, investigation organisms and the industry;
- Promoting the improvement of the tannery sector’s image;
- Contribute towards the improvement of work conditions in the tannery factories;
- Acting in areas connected to en product engineering.
