Pátio do Galé was once again the epicentre of Portuguese fashion. From the 11th to the 13th of October, ModaLisboa showed the world the trends for the next warm season.
SINGULAR was the motto for an edition bursting with creativity. “The 63rd edition of Lisbon Fashion Week was designed to celebrate the relationship between the capital and the Fashion Week, the result of a vibrant, ever-changing, brilliant and intercultural city. It was conceived to be SINGULAR. To have the best design and the best ethical and responsible production on its catwalk”, explains the organisation.
Portuguese footwear has once more taken part in the event because in every leather shoe there is a unique story, shaped by hands that carry the know-how of generations. There’s no hurry, no mass production. Each pair is born to last a lifetime, the result of care that transcends time. There’s an essence in Portugal that rejects the ordinary and values the exclusive, where design is not just a form but an identity. Quality is more than a requirement: it’s the soul that gives each piece its unique character. It’s the attention to detail that makes the real difference, where uniqueness becomes the rule rather than the exception.
The presentation of Portuguese Soul – conceived by APICCAPS in partnership with Moda Lisboa, with the support of PRR and within the framework of the BioSHoes4All project – took place in the HAVAS space and was marked by the unique performance of the pianist Máximo Francisco (author of MALHA, the soundtrack of the MODALISBOA SINGULAR campaign).
But the real stars of the presentation were the Ambitious, Carlos Santos, Leather Goods by Belcinto, Miguel Vieira, Sanjo, Penha, Valuni and Tatuaggi brands.
The last edition of ModaLisboa was also a moment for debuts: Luís Onofre presented a collection for the first time at the event. With Desire, the designer unveiled an infinity of colours and shapes that take desire to new heights, where the senses are awakened by contrasting tones and designs. “Desire models are sexy shoes, designed to be more expressive when worn. They are visually appealing”, says the designer about his inspiration. This season, Luís Onofre has reinforced his admiration for women, creating a collection that appeals to strong emotions.
Creative partnerships
Portuguese footwear has recently been seen on the most important international catwalks. After London, Paris, New York… Now it’s Lisbon’s turn.
“As part of BioShoes4All, footwear brands have teamed up with renowned international designers and developed creative partnerships that we hope will last”, revealed Paulo Gonçalves. “If the Portuguese footwear industry has the accumulated know-how and installed capacity to respond to the needs of international markets, young designers bring a fresh and renewed vision to the market”, and that’s why “this work tends to benefit all parties involved”.
But now was also the time to bring together national footwear and designers with the Made in Portugal signature, promoting a link between the two worlds.
DuarteHajime took over the catwalk with the 8000kicks brand. Luís Carvalho presented a collection for the first time with Calçado Penha, a brand that also returned to the ModaLisboa catwalk with a renewed partnership with Joana Duarte of Bèhen. Dino Alves presented once again a footwear collection developed with Reve de Flo.
