The latest episode of the CTCP Podcast, developed within the scope of the BioShoes4All project, has just been released, featuring Rui Rebelo, senior researcher at the INESC TEC Center for Enterprise Systems Engineering. In this new episode, Rui discusses the role and mission of INESC TEC, a leading entity in innovation and technology, detailing the strategic collaboration between the institution and the footwear cluster, as well as the key areas of work being developed to make this industry more modern and competitive.

The BioShoes4All project, in which INESC TEC plays a key role, aims to ensure a resilient and competitive national production base in external markets, standing out through innovation, differentiation, product quality, and the qualification of companies and workers. The researcher explains how INESC TEC’s contribution is driving innovation in the footwear sector, particularly through the development of a traceability platform that monitors the raw material through to the final product, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Beyond traceability, BioShoes4All also addresses the circularity of products. Rui discusses how the platform developed by INESC TEC promotes sustainability, facilitating the reuse and recycling of materials. This episode also explores planning and internal logistics systems, developed specifically for the footwear sector, which optimize production and improve operational efficiency.

The final part of the episode is dedicated to the themes of automation and robotics, growing trends that INESC TEC is applying to the production of eco-products within the context of the project.
