Luís Onofre – The future of sustainable footwear

Luís Onofre is a third-generation entrepreneur, born in 1970 in Oliveira de Azeméis, a key hub of the footwear industry in Portugal. He grew up in a family dedicated to producing high-quality footwear, developing a fascination with craftsmanship and artistic work from an early age. Luís studied at the School of Fine Arts of Porto and the Professional Training Center for the Footwear Industry. In 1990, he took over the management of the footwear company founded by his grandmother in 1939, and in 1999, he launched his first collection under the Luís Onofre brand. Since 2017, he has served as the President of APICCAPS, and in 2019, he was appointed President of the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC).
