The new generation of biological materials for footwear and leather goods represents a significant advancement in the commitment to sustainability in the fashion industry. The Footwear Cluster has embraced the vision of becoming an international reference in the development of sustainable solutions. This vision aims to strengthen Portuguese exports, supported by a highly competitive national production base grounded in knowledge and innovation.
In this context, as part of the BioShoes4All project, CTCP organized a webinar titled “New Generation of Biological Materials for Footwear and Leather Goods” on December 15th (Friday), at 11:30 AM. This session aimed to deepen the understanding of the innovative generation of biological materials for footwear and leather goods, particularly those developed by Monteiro Fabrics within the scope of BioShoes4All. These materials consist of coated fabrics composed mainly of natural or recycled elements, offering more sustainable alternatives compared to conventional synthetic materials and also promoting the adoption of conscious practices by industry professionals. The presence of fashion designer Maria Gambina enriched the discussion, providing a unique perspective.
The following topics were addressed in this online session:
- New coated textile materials for footwear, highlighting sustainability and vegan characteristics;
